I have a new hobby to share. Bad cattitude’s recent post reminded me that it may be worth sharing in case others want to get in on the fun. See, I collect humorous signs and elevator stickers such as this:
The great news is, they’re everywhere and they’re free! The bad news is you gotta be sneaky when you collect them, but that’s half the fun!
My collection started in March 2020 and it’s quite large. Maybe the Smithsonian will be interested some day?
Become ungovernable!
I was gonna like this comment, and then I read it again. Nope. I love this comment! I cannot rip the stickers or signs off the wall, but I am going to take my little cell phone and start taking pictures of all the stupid stuff!! Many thanks for my new hobby!!
You gotta get that McDonald's french fry container, now.
I like to imagine that these artifacts will be important--kinda like Nazi 'memorabilia'--when the REAL history of this time is written. Garbage like Stephen Colbert's "Vax Scene" horror, Frances Collins playing the guitar and singing some pandemic song to the tune of "over the Rainbow"--it will all tell a story. A very, very sad one.
Another thing I thought was interesting was that Marketplace did a story months ago on the rise of "corporate Memphis" graphic style. I had always wondered if that style had a name, because it sucks so bad, and so was intrigued by the story. But one thing it NEVER mentioned? Is that is the style that used for all of the CDC propaganda. (Some examples here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html) At my county level too.
